Headteachers share why they believe Learning by Doing is so crucial to their pupil's engagement and success. In areas of high deprivation, the national curriculum doesn’t reflect the often limited life experiences of their communities. Learning through enjoyable and practical activities gives an absolute meaning to their learning. They'll write about it, they'll read about it if they want to make sure their plant grows or they want to find a recipe for what they've grown. This type of learning and the context gives them a purpose which a lot of children in disadvantaged areas haven't had before.
