Open Futures grew nationally between 2004–2017, as a programme of the Helen Hamlyn Trust and later through a separate charity, The Open Futures Trust. It is succeeded by the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Pedagogy at the UCL Institute of Education in London, which continues the Helen Hamlyn Trust’s focus on the development of pedagogy for children aged 0–11 years in a variety of learning contexts.
