Engaging parents through cookit

Schools sit at the heart of their communities. Some parents, for whatever reason, find the school environment difficult. The hands-on nature of the Open Futures learning strands overcomes traditional fears. Practical activities, like cooking, create routes for parents, carers and other members of the wider school community to get involved in the children's learning. Here is one example of how a school invited parents into the school to learn how they teach the children how to cook while demonstrating maths, literacy and science.
